on many topics is filed in the dark brown filing cabinet.

- Family
history files (various surnames A-Z) are located in the top two drawers
of the dark brown filing cabinet.
- Map Holdings
- Various
types of maps (topographical and historical) are filed in the map
cabinet drawers. An index to the collection, Map Holdings List,
is located on top of the cabinet.
- C.D. Denney Research Papers
- Family
history files on over 1200 families with connections to the Selkirk
settlers, fur-traders and metis families of early western Canada.
- People and Places Binders
- Blue
binders of clippings relating mainly to Alberta people and places. The
documents are filed alphabetically by surname and placename.
- Edmonton Journal Clippings 1972-1983
- Black
binders of birth, marriage, death and other special announcements
clipped from the Edmonton Journal. There is a card index, by
name, to this collection in filing drawers below the binders.
- Card index to birth, marriages and deaths
- Information
extracted from birth, marriage and death registrations for Alberta
District, Northwest Territories 1870-1905.
The original registrations are held at the Provincial Archives of
Alberta and the cards were used to publish:

- Periodicals/Journals/Newsletters
- The library holds
journals/newletters from many family history societies. They are
shelved by country and may be borrowed.
- A photocopier for
patron use is onsite.

How to Borrow from the
AGS and Edmonton Branch AGS Libraries
Members of AGS are entitled to borrow from the AGS
Library
by mail or in person.
Edmonton Branch AGS Library materials may only be
borrowed by Edmonton Branch members.
The library borrowing period is four weeks and up to ten items may be
signed out at one time.

AGS will pay the costs of mailing materials to members. Return
costs are paid by the borrower.
Non-members may use the AGS Library
facilities for a fee of $4.00 per day but may not borrow any items.

This database is searchable

and lists the book, fiche, microfilm, and CD-Rom holdings of the
Alberta Genealogical Society and Edmonton Branch of Alberta
Genealogical Society Libraries.
On the search screen enter keywords to activate the
search facility.
Search results will display as you type.
The library call number will be shown on the results screen.
Use this number to retrieve materials from the AGS and Edmonton Branch
AGS Libraries.

In most cases library materials have been
catalogued by locality, starting with country and then broken down into
smaller areas (eg. Canada - Ontario - York Co).
This will assist you when searching for subject matter pertaining to
your area of research.
